Farrow & Ball Colour Awards Competition
Earlier this year, my colleagues (Beth Woodruff, Lucia Castillo) and I designed a colour scheme for an internal Colour Awards competition at Farrow & Ball. Each showroom was given a client brief to follow and a budget to work with. Our client was a couple with two young children who desired for their home to feel light, warm and cosy. They liked chic and contemporary interiors with a Scandinavian twist. Being a busy family, they needed their home to be durable against knocks and scrapes.
During our research, we came across That Scandinavian Feeling, a beautiful blog by Ingrid Opstad. She is a Norwegian journalist that is inspired by cosiness, calm and Nordic minimalist style. The images above are courtesy of JOTUN, which also inspired our chosen colour palette.
Our colour scheme proposal
Our concept
We chose a Farrow & Ball palette of warm white, blush and soft green-grey, against rich earthy green, rustic red and ochre. In the dining room we added the wallpaper Tourbillon 4803 to the paint scheme, which is a playful and contemporary wallpaper design. For the walls, we suggested that they use Modern Emulsion because it is a washable and durable finish along with Modern Eggshell for the woodwork and furniture.
